What is the Meaning of Pragmatic?

What is the Meaning of Pragmatic?

An American man explained me the meaning of the word pragmatic as follows:
For example, if you are invited to choose between 2 restaurants to eat out there, let's say the Italian one and the Indian one, you don't care which to choose, - the most important thing to go to eat to one of them.

I decided to check the meaning via Internet:

Pragmatic is the concentration on facts not speculation or opinion. Just as history is based on factual events not assumption or philosophy.

It is how you go about solving things in a simple manner. Step one, step two, step three, step four to tying your shoe or something similar.

The basic meaning of pragmatic is matter of fact and/or practical. One who tends to look for facts in a matter, then come to the most practical decision based on those facts would be considered pragmatic.

A pragmatist is one who defines a proposition as true if it works satisfactorily. In other words, a pragmatist is one who believes in practical solutions and empirical evidence, but discards beliefs that have no rational basis.

То есть, прагматичный - это практичный, но в том значении, что сопоставив все факты (и только факты, а не мнения и эмоции), выбирается самое практичное решение из существующих.
